Rain in Sylhet was never just rain. On a 2026 evening at Sylhet District Stadium, when Dhaka's Abahani Limited squared off against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, I was a 34-year-old live-text commentator working for Pitchside Chronicles, writing the match's story into being. A tea vendor shielded his cup with a stiffened palm; a small boy near the pitch let a toy car float on a puddle, and I realized the night had a third team — rain. Abahani won 2-1, but Nabib Newaj Jibon's 89th-minute winner was a stolen breath. I said into the microphone that rain was a character, not an audience. Someone online noted I had misread a substitution. I did not apologize; instead I opened a debate on how weather rewrites memory.
