In order for California’s used car lemon law to apply your used car, truck, or SUV must have been sold with a manufacturer or dealer warranty. The way to tell if you received a dealer warranty is by looking at the Buyer’s Guide. Federal law requires that all dealers prominently post a Buyer’s Guide on all used automobiles while they are being displayed for sale. A sample Buyer’s Guide is pictured below.
If the warranty box is checked, then the car is being sold with a warranty. If the As-Is box is checked, the car is being sold without a warranty.
